Nirakar Yakthumba (Musician / Entrepreneur) is one of the most celebrated musicians, who is also a keen sportsman right from his school days, taking part in various games in the school and district level. He has played football in the A division league in different parts of India. He is also a member of the Royal Nepal Golf Club, and in the year 1998 and 1999, he was the 1st and 2nd runner up consecutively in the Surya Nepal Golf Pro. Am Championship.
He is the bass guitarist and one of the composers of the band "1974 AD". Since their origin in 1996, 1974 AD has been known for songs that brought Nepalese together. The band set a benchmark, introducing Nepal to blues, rock, funk, reggae and jazz, but with unquestionable Nepali flavour. Among their biggest hits were 'Samjhi Baschu', 'Parelima', 'Yo Mann ta Mero Nepali ho', 'Sambodhan Timilai' and 'Hidda Hiddai'. 'Nepali ho' became an anthem for young Nepalis living abroad. For many, 1974 AD's music-induced feelings of nostalgia; for Nepali expats, their music was a perfect fit for their hiraeth—they evoked intangible belonging. The band won an award at the Hits FM Music Awards in the category of "Best Performance by a group or duo with vocals" and in the San Miguel Music Award 2000 Listeners Choice, the band bagged the award in the category "Best Band or Duo". live at
