Counting the breath is a commonly used technique in order to train our attention to stay in the present moment. In this exercise we explore another way in which Counting can be useful, by counting WITHIN each inhalation and exhalation. The count begins at 9 seconds, then shortens to 6 seconds before finally resting on 3 seconds.
