Evidence is used in occupational therapy to enable the provision of quality, individualized services. Such evidence is obtained from multiple sources. While peer-reviewed, published research, scientifically derived from empirical data is traditionally considered the most reliable source of evidence, professional expertise and expert opinion as well as client preferences, values and circumstances, and the context of therapy are also vital sources of evidence for decision making in occupational therapy.
