A father's (David Bradley) wish magically brings a wooden boy , Pinocchio (Gregory Mann), to life in Italy, giving him a chance to care for the child. When Pinocchio falls prey to the evil Volpe (Christoph Waltz), he and Geppetto have to struggle to find a place for themselves as Italy becomes embroiled in fascism.
