As an American one of the things I confuse often is Freedom. Deep in my DNA is the belief that freedom means I have more options, more things, and more choices. Freedom means more or so they tell us…

But in today’s Gospel a different picture is painted. Christ invites us to follow him, to leave our lives behind and find freedom in him. This invitation begs the question, what is freedom? How can limiting my options and choosing one thing somehow give me everything?

My question is simple… are you running from something or for someone?
