If you grew up on a diet of TV westerns as many did in the 50s and 60s you were captivated by the romance of a life on the range and almost certainly begged for a cowboy outfit complete with cap firing six guns for your birthday present.

You may also have assumed that one day you'd be carrying off a beautiful cowgirl slung across your shoulder while she vainly beat your back and kicked her legs in protest.

Later of course, after some skirmish you'd been involved in, she would exclaim "you're wounded" and tenderly nurse you back to fighting fitness.
