Thorne Finley, the arrogant and reckless son of wealthy cattle baron Big Jack Finley, instigates a fight in a saloon with a man he perceives as a "pasty-faced tenderfoot." Unbeknownst to him, this man is the notorious gunfighter Doc Holliday. Marshal Matt Dillon intervenes, jailing Thorne to prevent further violence.
