Gunung Padang Megalithic Site is the oldest pyramidal structure in the world located in the province of West Java, Indonesia. It is spread over 15 hectares. The site was built of mud and stone on top of an extinct volcano. The area of the main complex is approximately 900 m², located at an altitude of 885 m above sea level, and the area of this site is about 3 ha, making it the largest terraced punden complex in Southeast Asia. It is a mountain in which several terraces are carved, fortified with pieces of basalt columns. In a 2014 report on Kompas.com, archaeologist Harry Truman Simanjuntak suggested that the construction took place much more recently, perhaps sometime between the 2nd and 6th centuries AD.
