This video focuses on Game Mechanics, and the one "roll" to rule them all, the "success roll". Once you have learned this mechanic, you can use any rule in the book. Or any rule you can dream up. That's the other great thing about GURPS... you DO NOT have to use their rules. If you don't know a rule (and don't have time to look it up), you can just "wing it". You don't need an encyclopedic knowledge of the GURPS rules to play. You can start with very little knowledge, and learn more as you go.

NOTE: I mis-spoke during the video. Jake's alcoholism disadvantage did NOT have a self control roll. But it did have a check vs WILL to see if he partook in the presence of alcohol, which acted the same as a control roll. So on my character sheet, I wrote it as "Alcoholism [CR:12]" to let me know that I would need to make a roll (a "control" roll) in order to withstand his urges. I am sorry for the confusion... I just read my old character sheet, and didn't re-check the Basic Set before publishing ;-)

P.S. I know, my face is really low resolution... I tried to fix the "out of focus" issue from the first video by sitting farther back. I have since purchased a new camera so hopefully the next video will look better! ;-)
