When a headline-making physicist named Dr. H. Tracy Hall, moved into high school senior Trevor Andersen's neighborhood, Trevor asked the scientist if he would make a guest appearance at his high school's Sapere Aude club.  The scientist said he would.  The year was 1956.

Trevor then met with Sapere Aude president Harry Olson who arranged to have a special meeting held, not in an after-hours high school classroom, but in the spacious home and family room of club member Lynn Poulson.  So, what was so special about Dr. H. Tracy Hall?  And why did Lynn Poulson insist that "no ordinary classroom will do for Dr. Hall?"

It was because of who Dr. Hall was, a man as brilliant as the object he scientifically created from coal -- a man who is known today as the world's first true alchemist.
