This week we're talking about Scott Reef an ancient marine sanctuary off the coast of WA that oil and gas corporation Woodside Energy wants to drill and destroy. Scott Reef is home to more than 1500 species including endemic green sea turtles and endangered pygmy blue whales. Despite knowing just how harmful it will be, Woodside Energy remains steadfast in its push to drill for gas and build a 900km pipeline to the highly-controversial North West Shelf gas processing facility at Karratha. But the Environment movement is on an even bigger mission to stop Big Gas greed and send that message straight to Canberra.
Hear from Adam Bandt and find out why he's talking about Lord of the Rings plus our guest this week is Australian South Sudanese artist Atong Atem who has just opened her first solo exhibition at the NGV. Atong reveals what it's like back home in South Sudan with the onslaught of the climate crisis plus her experience as a young mum with the relentless and existential threat of climate change.
This week we're talking about fracking. It’s risky and dangerous business and Big Gas is eyeing off the Northern Territory where a giant pipeline proposal will be the ultimate test for the Federal government. Plus we get Adam Bandt’s take on vested interests and the control Big Gas reigns over parliamentarians. And our guest this week is Laniyuk, a First Nations campaigner and political creative who is using her platform to stop the expansion of the Middle Arm gas hub in Darwin and to see the Return of Lee Point to Larrakia families.
We bring you the latest on the H5N1 bird flu outbreak across Australia and the impact it is having on some of our most at risk species. But are authorities doing enough to protect our threatened species? ACF CEO Adam Bandt talks to these issues, along with a heartfelt message to Independent MP Helen Haines. And we leave you with a bit of levity from Australian fashion model, comedian and actor Milo Hartill who takes us on a journey about bees in their home and why it's important to use online platforms to unite, not spread hate.
