HACKATHON #2 FOR IMMUNIZATION AGENDA 2030
755 Alumni of the Geneva Learning Foundation’s immunization programme kicked off the first Immunization Agenda 2030 Impact Accelerator on 8 November 2021.
In the second of four weekly Hackathons, using the Geneva Learning Foundation’s ITCH methodology, participants met to support one colleague who is facing a significant challenge.
We start with one person who has a challenge.
This is the Challenge Owner.
We ask him or her to add any necessary information to understand his or her challenge.
The team asks additional questions, if necessary.
We then call on participants to share their experience.
Ask yourself: how can my experience help the Challenge Owner?
You do not say, “You should do...” you say, “I’ve been through this, and this is what I’ve done, this is how it turned out for me.”
Be specific in your contribution: what happened? how did it turn out? what is the lesson that can be helpful to your colleague?
WHAT IS ITCH?
The Immunization Training Challenge Hackathons (ITCH) were co-created by The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF) with national and sub-national immunization staff who need to develop people in order to improve immunization programme performance.
ITCH was first offered an “opt-in” activity for learners in the Teach to Reach (T2R) Accelerator Program between March and May 2020.
ITCH focuses on networked collaborative problem-solving between peers.
The ITCH process in and of itself constitutes a kind of learning or coming to consciousness — participants realizing how much they could learn from each other (peer learning), experiencing the power of defying distance to solve problems together (remote learning), and feeling a growing sense of belonging to a community emergent (social learning), across country borders and health system levels (networked learning).
