Halfway Obedience | Sermon | The Hustle Is Holy™
“Halfway obedience is full disobedience.”
That’s the hard truth God revealed through Saul’s story in 1 Samuel 15:22–23:
“To obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”
Saul didn’t outright reject God—he just partially obeyed. He spared King Agag, kept the best sheep, and convinced himself it was “for worship.” But God called it rebellion.
The reality is simple: partial surrender is still rebellion. God doesn’t bless “almost.”
Obedience is measured by completion, not intention. Good intentions don’t excuse disobedience.
Halfway obedience produces halfway blessings. We can’t expect the fullness of God’s promises if we only give Him half of our hearts.
Lot’s wife almost escaped Sodom—but almost cost her everything.
Jesus’ full obedience at the cross secured our salvation. Your destiny demands nothing less than full surrender.
In today’s world, it’s easy to pick and choose which parts of God’s Word we want to obey.
Tithing while cheating in business.
Forgiving but still holding grudges.
Serving in ministry while ignoring God’s call at home.
But God is calling us higher. Not halfway. Not partial. Wholehearted obedience.
Ask yourself today:
👉 Where am I stopping short?
👉 What “Agags” am I sparing?
👉 What sheep have I refused to release?
Pray this prayer:
“Lord, reveal the places where I’ve only gone halfway. Give me strength to fully obey You.”

Luke 9:62 – “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
John 14:15 – “If you love me, keep my commandments.”
