Halloween 5.

Last time he returned, now he will get his revenge. Actually he gets his ass handed to him by a very aged Dr. Loomis at the end of this one. And over two movies, he has failed to defeat his niece who is ten years old.

To say Michael Myers was getting tired is an understatement. This was the film in the series that in my opinion sent it into a downward spiral that it has never recovered from. The previous installment, released less than a year earlier was a return to form and brought the series back to life after Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, nearly killed it. But all the success of Part 4 was short lived as the producers rushed this into production to cash in on its surprising box office performance.

Michael Myers does some strange things in this movie such as switching his mask while driving around Haddonfield in a sports car. He also gets beat up by Dr Loomis and is arrested. While he waits for his lawyer to show up he is seen sulking in his jail cell with his mask still on. Just some strange decisions made by the characters and by the filmmakers. Its like they really did not care what was on the screen and hired the first person who was willing to direct it.

Lets not forget the most controversial aspect of the entire series, Thorn.

And while the plot is not really explained until Part 6, it all began here. Fans mostly hate this story arc but it has its supporters who still want the series to go in this direction again.
