In Search of Dopamine

Hallucinations

Listen Later

In this episode of In Search of Dopamine, we take a closer look at hallucinations, a common and sometimes unsettling symptom of Parkinson’s disease. These experiences can cause distress, both for the person living with the disease and for their loved ones. But there are ways to better understand them and learn how to manage them.

Dr. Philippe Huot, a neurologist specializing in movement disorders at the Montreal Neurological Institute, explains the science behind hallucinations, why they happen and how they can change as the disease progresses.

Pascal Girard, a social worker at the MUHC, shares his experience supporting people living with Parkinson’s and offers practical advice for patients and caregivers.

This podcast is made possible by a grant from the Quebec Government under the “Québec ami des aînés” program.
