Maybe because while growing up in Brazil in the 80s, it was common to hear tragic stories of hang gliders dying in "Pedra da Gavea", a famous cliff in Rio de Janeiro.  But I found a way to take classes, get the training, and bypass my fears. And I loved it!   </p>

I realized that trying to learn by watching RedBull or Nat Geo videos is far from ideal. Although they are greatly entertaining, they only feature professional athletes with years of experience, training, amazing resources and lots of time -- things a regular guy like me don't have.
