Bus stops. While it seems like most people waiting at bus stops these days are looking at their phones until their bus arrives, that’s not always the case.

There were these two guys who were standing at a bus stop and not looking at their phones. One guy noticed that the other guy was wearing a jacket with a local sports team’s logo on it. “Small talk” about sports began at that bus stop and continued on the bus that drove them to their homes in Northeast Minneapolis. It also turned out that these two guys worked at the same large financial services company in downtown Minneapolis.

That’s how Bob Edholm and Jon Lawrence met and became friends. As the days, weeks, and months went by, these two guys schmoozed about sports as though they had their own sports talk show. Years later, while they no longer work at that company or ride the bus to and from work, they’re still talking about sports. They manage to talk about things like music and TV shows, too.
