On March 13 of 2019, a team of surgeons led by Prof. Mashudu Tshifularo using 3D technology, successfully pioneered the transplant of a patient’s middle ear to cure his deafness. The team was from the University of Pretoria Faculty of Health at the Steve Biko Academic hospital in Pretoria.
