• When we have a big problem, the issue is usually having too much information and variables to deal with at one time. When we get overwhelmed, we rarely find the best solutions to the problem.
• Make a habit of breaking down problems into small steps. This reduces the sense of overwhelm and gives you a sense of progress and momentum.
• When you discover your biases and examine why you think the way you do, you open a door into a new realm of possibilities.
• By focusing on what you don’t have, you prevent yourself from seeing the possibilities. Simply adding the word “yet” to the end of a limiting belief can change your life.
• We all have the same 24 hours in the day. Have you taken concrete action to move forward in your life? If not, now is the time. With the right attitude and a little effort, you can change everything.
• Use the tools and resources we provide to unlock your true potential. Don’t fall into the pattern that most people fall into and not use the tools that are available to you.

• Your morning routine, night routine, and habits enable you to live the life you choose for yourself. When you combine those things with accountability, you will transform everything in your life.

• Deb grew up mostly without adult supervision. This led to her having a number of habits that weren’t really serving her in her adult years.
• Our whole life is created by our habits, which means you can take control of your life by implementing the right habits. If you can create strong, positive habits in each of the seven important areas of your life, you will reap immense rewards.
• When it comes to forming new habits, it’s important to start off with the smallest of steps.
• Making small changes to the habits around your health will completely change your life. A new you is built from small, but powerful changes to your behavior.
• Studies have shown that it takes anywhere from 21 to 65 days to change a habit. If you build on your habits on a daily basis, you will move closer to your goals.
• Don’t look at the setbacks. Setbacks will happen, but it’s important to not let them halt your progress.
• Don’t think about building new habits as missing out on something or taking something away from your life, and instead like you get the opportunity to reap the rewards of your awesome new habits and resulting life.
• Accountability partners can be a great tool for establishing new habits. Having someone hold you to your commitment makes it much more likely that you will stick to the plan. Find someone who will care for you without judgment.
• People with an accountability partner or support system in place lose weight 32% faster than those who don’t. Support can make all the difference in achieving your goals.

Learn how to create a routine that’s tailored to your needs, how to know if something in your current routine needs to change, and some major misconceptions around sleep that may be preventing you from getting the optimal rest you need to succeed.

• If your morning routine is about getting your day ready for success, your night routine is about rejuvenating and recovering from a productive day and is just as important.
• No matter what time of day you go to sleep, having a night routine will make a big difference.
• The goal of the night routine is to make sure you get adequate rest. Getting to sleep before midnight is not as important as making sure you get between seven and nine hours of sleep.
• Studies and recommendations evolve over time. At the end of the day, you have to make things your own.
• If you need seven to eight hours of sleep, make sure you build that into your routine so that you are in bed at the right time.
• If you don’t feel rejuvenated when you wake, that’s a clue that you aren’t getting enough hours of sleep.
• Your brain processes anywhere from 40,000 to 90,000 thoughts every single day. You’ve got to give it a rest!
• Deb likes to prepare her bedroom so it feels like a warm hug when she enters the room. This includes dimming the lights, turning the bed down, a magnesium spray, and closing the windows.
• Invoking the senses can help you sleep properly. Sometimes we need to help our brains slow down and truly get ready for rest.
• Studies have shown that we shouldn’t eat carbs after 8pm. This isn’t a hard and fast rule, but it’s important to understand how certain things, like eating carbs can affect your routine.
• If you go off routine, that’s okay. Just bring it back for the next day and avoid being off track all the time.
• We all know we should be putting our phone away, but most of us don’t actually do it. If you find yourself not getting the rest you need, look for things in your environment that you can change that may improve the amount of rest you are getting. Your phone may be a major culprit and attention thief.
• Building a night routine is about testing things and seeing what the results are.
• The temperature of your room may be a challenge you didn’t know you had. Our brains need to lower a degree when we rest for optimal sleep.
• Other things you can try are reading before bed, herbal teas, journaling, and gratitude practice.
• Your night routine and going to bed should make you feel good. If not, it’s time to change things.

• People usually spend 80% to 90% of their time talking about the problem instead of working on the solution.
• We all face and overcome obstacles in our lives, and they always appear more formidable going in than they do when we look back. People are very resilient, and we will always find a solution to the obstacles we face.
• If we can consistently knock down obstacles, get through our challenges, and find solutions, we are going to get the results that we want. They may not be the results you want right at the beginning, but it’s a start.
• Open up to the possibility of one day having enough. Think in terms of “not yet” instead of absolutes.
• Results will bring you clarity, positivity, and momentum.
• Solutions can take many forms. They can be strategies, processes, or steps, but as long as you stay positive, you will discover your own solutions.
• If you make the effort, your brain will always come up with the solution. You may get stuck, but if you add the word “yet” to your vocabulary, you are guaranteed to succeed.

• Your morning routine keeps you focused and helps you start your day off on the right foot.
• There are many different recommendations on establishing your morning routine, but the important part is to find out what specifically works for you.
• Life can pose challenges to creating a morning routine, but if you have the mindset that your circumstances are unique and it won’t work for you, you’re undermining yourself right from the beginning.
• You have to be patient like a farmer when creating a routine. It takes time to establish and discover the rhythm that works for you.
• Deb likes to wake up at a specific time and set an intention for the day.
• By focusing your intention for the day, you become aware of it.
• Another benefit of sticking with a morning routine is the reward of feeling consistent.
• You can be successful without a morning routine, but with a morning routine you will achieve more and have a head start.
• All masters mastered their craft by working on it and committing to putting in the time. A morning routine is both an effort and a way for you to give you space to hone your skills.
• Try simply waking up 15 minutes earlier and go from there.
• Rise before everyone else. This will give you quality time for yourself in whatever form makes the most sense for you.
• Practice gratitude at the start of your day and watch how it will change your mindset over time.
• Meditation is another great practice for your morning routine. Start with a few minutes if you struggle with it and don’t force yourself to sit still if you’re not ready.
• Exercise, even in small doses, is a powerful way to start your day.
• Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger, two of the greatest investors ever, read for over three hours a day. Reading as part of your morning routine is an excellent way to keep growing your mind and start off a day strong.
• Being accountable and telling someone that you are starting a morning routine or how much your current one is helping is a good way to make sure you stick to it.

• When it comes to biases, the student mindset will always surpass the teacher.
• Bias is “the action of supporting or opposing a particular person or thing in an unfair way, because of allowing personal opinions to influence your judgment.”
• Our brains are lazy and biases are a way for our brain to save energy in making decisions. The tricky thing is they are hard to notice until you really dig into them.
• Social media has a major impact on bias.
• Biases have a tendency to be intertwined into multiple areas of your life.
• We tend to see what we want to see, which is why Confirmation Bias is a challenge we all have to deal with. We need to look for information that goes against what we want to be true, but that’s an active process.
• The Anchor Bias is the tendency to rely heavily on the first piece of information we receive. When it comes to surveys, we need at least a sample size of 30 people to eliminate biases from the result.
• Being aware of biases can be used for both good and bad. The more you understand your own biases, the easier it is to see when someone is trying to manipulate you.
• Make your own decisions and avoid following the crowd.
• The Loss Aversion Bias is one of the most important biases in finance.
• The Sunk Cost Fallacy is a bias that business owners need to really understand deeply. We tend to get emotionally attached to our businesses and investments and are susceptible to going down with the ship. Using data to make decisions is crucial to avoiding this particular bias.
• The Sunk Cost Fallacy is closely tied into our fear of failure.
• Our biases can lead to failures, but they are also an opportunity to learn if you view them with a happy disposition of better understanding yourself.
• It’s important to learn from our mistakes, but learning your biases will give you tremendous insight and make a huge difference in your future results.
• Challenge your thinking process. If you want the best outcome, you need to self-reflect.
• Seek alternative perspectives. The more you challenge your thinking, the less biased you will be.

• The definition of mindset varies but the Oxford Dictionary defines it as a set of attitudes and fixed ideas that someone has that are difficult to change. It’s the beliefs that you hold and how they shape your perception of your life and the world.
• Fundamentally, your mindset is either fixed or growth-oriented.
• A fixed mindset focuses on what you are able to do rather than effort. It focuses on failure and rejection, and resists challenges and fears. This is where you can find yourself thinking about the same things on repeat.
• A fixed mindset doesn’t ask questions, it has conclusions.
• We will encounter a huge number of challenges in life. If you’re not willing to face those challenges because of your limited beliefs, you will find it very difficult to move forward in your life.
• What doesn’t grow, dies.
• The first step in having a growth mindset is emphasizing learning and increasing your skills.
• Embrace challenges by putting a positive spin on them. Instead of being obstacles, they are opportunities for growth. If you look at them that way, you will become excited to face challenges and find solutions. It will also be easier to face setbacks.
• To develop a growth mindset, you have to take a step back first and look at the beliefs that are holding you back.
• The start of a growth mindset is assessing your beliefs and asking if they are true. We have to be willing to admit we don’t know everything and we can still discover new things about the world and ourselves.
• Challenge your own beliefs. Write them down and question them, but always look at them in a positive light and look for ways to improve.
• With a growth mindset, your confidence and motivation will grow each day. You’ll notice you are more open to opportunities which leads to better problem-solving skills, and you’ll be more open to healthy, positive relationships.
• The satisfaction of seeing your own personal growth is very inspiring.
• Cultivating a growth mindset starts with finding coaches and mentors that have the same values as you and following what they did. Ask them what their formula for success is and use that as a template.
• Acting as-if, you’ve already made it is not enough. As a man thinks, so he is. You need to spend time cultivating the internal mindset and removing the limiting beliefs before it can become your reality.

• Words have the incredible power to affect your internal state, but also the physical state of your brain. Using positive words instead of negative words can have an immediate effect on your internal state.
• If you put positive words into your brain, what do you think will be the end result? More often than not, positive words will lead to positive results.
• Deb uses the positive words fun, commitment, and honesty to describe relationships for her. For Guy, his words are commitment, unity, and acceptance.
  • Every relationship has to involve fun. Life is filled with drudgery and we have to choose to bring fun and joy into the relationships in our lives. Don’t put off having fun and enjoying your life.
  • Commitment is being dedicated. Be where you say you are going to be on time, and follow through on the things you say you are going to do.
  • Honesty in a relationship is crucial. Honesty means sincerity, fairness, and straightforwardness of conduct. Don’t waste the relationship on BS. If you can’t be honest, you end up walking on eggshells never knowing when you’ll step on the hidden landmine. A lack of honesty gradually erodes every relationship. Anything can be said or discussed as long as there is respect.
  • Unity is all about bringing like-minded people together that are working toward the same result. Find the people that are united and can support you as you support them.
  • Accepting one another the way we are makes life much easier and happier.
• When you get your Happiness Score, you can look at each area of your life and find the three positive words that define that area for you.
• In terms of finance, Guy values growth, control, and freedom. Growth is about increasing material wealth. Control is about taking into account extraneous factors that might affect the result. Freedom is about the power to act without constraint, which is the ultimate goal of financial freedom.
• For Deb, she values abundance, flow, and security. Abundance is about having ample quantity, similar to what freedom means for Guy. Flow is about moving forward. Security is about feeling free from danger and anxiety.
• You can have the same words as someone else but they can mean something different to you. Choose your words because your brain will adapt the meaning for you and put a positive spin on them.

• We can look at different areas of our life that we don’t like, but we have to accept who we are. Find the love that you want to give, and part of that is loving yourself.
• Focus on your strengths and what you’re good at, accept the things you’re not as good at, and then hire a team around those things.
• In the next season, Deb and Guy will be discussing how to put healthy micro habits in place in your life.
