This week on the GeneUS Health Minute, were celebrating the life and legacy of Ms. Henrietta Lacks. In 1951, the young mother of five visited Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore Maryland, one of few hospitals that would treat poor blacks during that time. She learned that she had a deadly malignant tumor on her cervix, which took her life later that year. Today, just over seventy years since her death, her Hela-cells still lives on and has changed the trajectory of science forever.
