🎙️ Podcast Notes: Happy & Free: Jesus the Messiah

Main Scripture: Luke 24:25-27 — Jesus walks with the disciples on the road to Emmaus, opening the Scriptures and revealing Himself as the fulfillment of all prophecy.

What did Jesus do? Why did He do it? How are we saved by it? And what happens when we believe it?

Jesus fulfilled His role as the prophesied Messiah through suffering, sacrifice, and resurrection. His work wasn’t random—it was purposeful and prophetic:

  • Agony in Gethsemane – Separation from the Father begins.

  • Betrayed, arrested, denied, and mocked – He was rejected by those closest to Him.

  • Scourged, crowned with thorns, spat upon – The full weight of human cruelty and the curse.

  • Crucified and pierced – He bore our sin, shame, rebellion, and curse.

  • Gave up His spirit and died – He wasn’t murdered; He gave His life.

  • Rose again – Triumph over sin and death!

🔑 Every step carried unique saving grace: for our sins, our sickness, our griefs, our minds, and our peace.

If the “what” of Jesus doesn’t move you—it might be because the “why” hasn’t gripped your heart yet.

đź’ˇ The gospel reveals a mystery: God desires union with you.

  • Ephesians 1:9-10 – His plan is to gather all things in Christ.

  • Colossians 1:26-27 – The mystery is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

  • Ephesians 2:13-22 – He brought us near, tore down walls, and made us His home.

🧬 You’re not just saved from sin—you’re saved for union with God. You are His dwelling place.

Each wound, each act of suffering, was payment for something specific:

  • Isaiah 53 – He bore our griefs, sorrows, transgressions, and iniquities.

  • The stripes on His back — for healing.

  • The thorns — taking the curse, healing our minds.

  • The cross — bearing our rebellion and breaking sin’s power.

  • The spear in His side — new birth through blood, water, and Spirit (1 John 5:7-8).

  • His death — destroys our sinful nature (Romans 6).

  • His resurrection — empowers us to walk in newness of life.

🗝️ What Jesus did on the cross paid for what we did in the flesh.

When you truly believe in the finished work of Jesus:

  • You are born again — not just forgiven but made new.

  • You are reconciled — no longer far, but near to the Father.

  • You are free — from sin, from shame, from striving.

  • You are indwelt — the Spirit lives in you; you are His home.

  • You are empowered — not to struggle forever, but to walk in victory.

📖 Romans 6:1-4 – You died with Him and now walk in new life. 💥 Philippians 2:13 – He works in you to will and to do His good pleasure.
