Thanksgiving Reality Check
The turkey’s thawing in the sink, It’s bigger than we thought, I think. The gravy’s lumpy, Aunt Sue’s late, The dog just stole a piece of plate.
Uncle Bob is telling tales again, About how football was better then. The kids are hiding under chairs, And someone burned the yams upstairs.
Still, laughter fills the crowded room, Despite the culinary doom. We clink our cups, we feast, we cheer— It’s messy magic, once a year.
