person’s spirit and wring the joy out of their life. Whether it is a

loss of a loved one, an unexpected and tragic illness, a setback in

career, a personal rejection or betrayal, or any of a multitude of other

‘unfair’ experiences, we are thrown towards grief and despair as we

face what seems undeserved and unkind. As Christians, we see many

stories of God’s people throughout Scripture where the same kinds of

things happened to them.  In the Exodus story, we see that their lives

got considerably harder (no small feat for people who have been enslaved

for centuries!) even though they didn’t do anything to deserve it. 

What do you do when this happens in your life?  How do you talk about it

or think about it? This part of the story ends with the Israelites

still stuck in what is unfair, and complaining to Moses.  Yet their

lives are already on the path of deliverance. Maybe we can learn what it

looks like to face unfair by faith!
