Harlan Emil Gruber is an architect and electrical engineer turned structural installation artist. Harlan received a BFA in environmental design from Parsons school of design after studying physics at Emory University and electrical engineering at Georgia Tech. He’s combined his interests and talents and channeled them into a lifelong career in art and design. Originally, Harlan Emil worked for the design firm SITE Projects of New York before launching an independent career in 1987. Harlan is a ‘Burner’ and has been attending Burning Man festivals since 1999. He has used this venue and similar venues to showcase his artwork. He has worked in collaboration with other artists since 2004. The installation’s are designed to operate as gateways that elevate human consciousness. Ultimately, Harlan hopes his installations will help individuals re-orient themselves so they can live in sacred harmony with all life.
