Harold first came to Alaska in 1969 as an engineer for ARCO. He was ARCO’s Engineering Manager at the time of first production from the Prudhoe Bay Field in 1977. In the 80’s, Harold headed up the Alaska producing operations and subsequently the Long Beach based pipeline and oil tanker operations of ARCO. Part- ing with ARCO in 1990, Heinze moved to Alaska for the fourth time to serve as newly-elected Governor Hickel’s Commissioner of Natural Resources. Having failed several times at retirement, Harold has continued to work in both the Alaska public and pri- vate sectors, and is currently leading a small high-tech startup company based in Anchorage.
