Hate Evil and Love What Is Good

Listen Later

// Sermon Application //
1. Pastor Ryan began this sermon saying "These commands (from Rom 12:9-21) are a pathway to personal revival." Are you currently in need of personal revival? If so, describe that. What would/could that consist of? What do you believe is currently hindering you from revival?
2. How do you view God's commands? (example: Are they burdensome to you? Are they bad news to you? Are they difficult to walk in?) Why are they that to you? How (in what specific way) might God's commandments be "relaxing" to you?
3. Regarding the command to "Abhor what is evil," do you currently abhor evil? What specific evils do you abhor/hate? How do you express you abhorrence?
4. Regarding the command to "hold fast to what is good" are you currently doing that? How? In what way? What does "holding fast to that which is good" manifest itself in your life currently?
5. Are you "lukewarm" in hating evil and loving that which is good, how might you grow in warmth/heat to have greater affect to hate evil and love good? Be specific!
May the Lord truly increase our hatred of evil and expressions of that hatred! May He also deepen our resolves to love (cling to) that which is good! As you observe these marks of grace in one another, take some time to thank the Lord for these evidences of grace in one another and pray for one another. Praying that your gatherings are filled with great grace!
