Over 100 former bureaucrats have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging what they say is a "frenzy of hate" and "an escalation of hate violence across BJP-ruled states". Recently, the Supreme Court cracked down on hate speech, after which the Uttarakhand government refused permission for a religious event in Roorkee. But, with incidents of communal violence and hate being witnessed every few days, should the Prime Minister speak up?
