Haunted by Pharaoh’s Ghost

Last week we saw the Sabbath as tapping into God’s rhythm for human flourishing that was built into creation. Life has a rhythm, and this rhythm is life. But this is only scratching the surface. Sabbath is actually both a ‘yes’ and a ‘no’. It is a ‘yes’ to God and His cadence of work and rest for full humanity, and it is at the same time a ‘no’ to the systems of this world that would reject the divine pace. In the Old Testament, Sabbath was a form of resistance and an alternative to the system of Pharaoh. So this week we want to try and create a more complete picture of this beautiful day of rest. Our study this week is called: Haunted by Pharaoh’s Ghost.
