Located in West Virginia, Moundsville Penitentiary's history is dark and bloody. Opened in 1866 and closed in 1995 Moundsville Pen. residents experienced beatings, torture from guards, and inhumane living conditions. Today Moundsville Penitentiary is a tourist spot where some say many of the former inmates never left.
