Welcome to a new episode of The Entrepreneur Podcast today we have with us Raghav Gupta BlaBlaCar India Country manager.

BlaBlaCar connects car owners and co-travelers to share long distance journeys and share the costs of the trip. In India where public transport infrastructure is insufficient and fuel is expensive, they are bringing innovation in city-to-city travel and changing how India travels.

BlaBlaCar is the leading French ride-sharing start-up that has emerged as a shining example of alternate and innovative apps that can solve the country’s long-distance transport problems, while ensuring a positive impact on the environment in an economically sustainable manner. 3 million seats have been offerred on the platform since their launch of operations in India. This translates to 145 Mn trip kilometres shared so far through ridesharing (or carpooling) on BlaBlaCar across 700 cities. In addition, they have built a large community of travelers who are able to travel last minute from a convenient location and at their own time.

Raghav is leading BlaBlaCar’s launch in India and shaping the company’s value proposition for this large and exciting market. Raghav believes in applying a global approach to bringing the best global practices with a strong local proposition to the Indian audience.

Raghav started his career in the fashion business and then spent a number of years working in management consulting as a consumer & retail expert in India, Europe, the US and the Middle East.

Raghav is an MBA from INSEAD in France, a post graduate in fashion business management from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi, and a Mechanical Engineer from the Pune University. He has spoken at various conferences and published in the media around consumer trends and building capabilities in emerging markets.
