Most expats in Germany discover very quickly that the funeral system here feels completely different from what they grew up with. SInce losing several beloved people in my life, I was deeply aware of the emotional load families carry at the end of life made me understand how much easier everything becomes when we prepare a few things in advance. The hopsice volunteer training I am conducting right now only deepened that awareness.
