  • The Pyramid You Can’t Climb: MLMs Won’t Make You Rich

Hey girl!!! 💕✨ Been SO long!!! Random question: have you ever thought about being your own boss???

You know the pitch. Sell products you already love. Work from your phone. Build a team. Create passive income. Retire your spouse. Financial freedom is just a downline away.

There’s just one tiny problem: the math.

In this episode of Have You Tried Being Rich?, Kristin and Dria take on multi-level marketing and the promise that MLMs can turn regular people into entrepreneurs on their way to financial freedom.

They break down why the pitch is so damn convincing, why MLMs spread so easily through friends, family, and social media, and what the actual income numbers look like once you get past the success stories, luxury vacations, and “be your own boss” posts.

And because not every MLM is an illegal pyramid scheme, they also get into the messier question: Can something be perfectly legal and still be a pretty terrible way to try to get rich?

Turns out, the product can be real. The opportunity can be real. The money?

Well... we should probably talk about that.

  • Rich Dad, Poor Advice

Buy assets. Use good debt. Build passive income. Escape the rat race.

For nearly 30 years, Rich Dad Poor Dad has told people that getting wealthy starts with learning to think differently about money.

And to be fair, some of it makes a lot of sense.

Cash flow matters. Ownership matters. Knowing the difference between something that builds wealth and something that just looks like wealth? Also pretty useful.

But somewhere between “buy assets, not liabilities” and the internet’s obsession with passive income, rental properties, entrepreneurship, and leveraging your way to financial freedom, things got a little... guru-y.

In this episode of Have You Tried Being Rich?, Kristin and Dria take on Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad and ask what happens when “think like the rich” advice has to survive actual life.

They get into good debt versus bad debt, whether your house is really an asset, the reality of “passive” rental income, entrepreneurship, college, business ownership, leverage, and why copying what wealthy people do is a lot harder when you don’t also have a wealthy person’s margin for error.

Because buying an asset is one thing.

Buying yourself a stressed-out job with an LLC is another.

Cash flow is real. Cosplay leverage is not.

  • Stop Blaming the Latte: The $5 Lie Keeping You Broke

You’ve heard it for years: stop buying the $5 coffee, invest the money, and you’ll retire a millionaire. Apparently, your latte has been sabotaging your entire financial future.

In Episode 1 of Have You Tried Being Rich?, Kristin Geosits and Dria Benjamin take on the “Latte Factor,” one of personal finance’s favorite pieces of advice. Where did it come from? Does the math actually hold up? And is cutting small daily expenses really the key to building wealth?

The answer is a little more complicated than “stop buying coffee.”

Yes, small savings add up. Paying attention to your spending matters. But there’s a big difference between building better financial habits and pretending a $5 purchase is the reason buying a house, paying off debt, or getting ahead feels impossible.

Kristin and Dria break down what the Latte Factor gets right, where it falls apart, and the bigger financial levers that deserve more attention, including income, housing costs, debt, saving, and investing.

So, should you skip the coffee? Maybe. Will it make you rich? That’s where the BS Meter comes in.
