Having Your 'Why' - With the Molar Explorer, Catherine Burford

Listen Later

On this episode of Previously Learnt, we were incredibly fortunate to be joined by the Molar Explorer, Catherine Burford.

Only 12 women have skied solo and unsupported to the South Pole. This year marks the 30th anniversary since the first woman achieved this amazing feat.

In November, Cat, who is a dentist (hence the fantastic Molar Explorer name), will mark this occasion by becoming one of the handful of women to have skied more than 700 miles over 50 days, pulling all her food, fuel and equipment in a pulk weighing 85kg.

This was a brilliant chat where we spoke of :

  • Getting involved
  • Not knowing until you try
  • The importance of teachers
  • Not getting disheartened
  • Preparing for challenging times
  • How to tackle a huge challenge
  • Self belief
  • Having a 'why' and why you need a why
  • How to deal with things when times get difficult

You can see more of Cat's epic challenge at The Molar Explorer

Cat is also raising money for the expedition and charities Bridge2Aid and Community Action Nepal - see her website for details
