HCT Fire, New Ombudsman, Property Market

Listen Later

The Fire and Rescue Service extinguished a fire on the 23rd floor of an unoccupied, unfinished building at Hassan Centenary Terraces on Wednesday night. They had some initial difficulty with access, but once they got there they were able to put out the blaze in minutes. GBC understands the fire was in a skip at the top of the tower block, which is still under construction. Our reporter Kelly-Anne Borge, who happens to be a resident of the area, told us more.

GGCA President Wendy Cumming will be the next Public Services Ombudsman, making her the first ever woman in the post. Ms Cumming will take over from Ron Coram at the start of May and a nominations process for the post of GGCA President is now underway. She spoke to us about the appointment.

And, are you thinking of buying, renting or selling a property in 2024? What are the main things you need to consider and what is the market doing? Aidan Montero is a Director at the estate agents Savilles and joined us in the studio.
