This is the first message in our Advent series for 2018. This year we are allowing Jesus to tell us why he came. Then we are taking what he tells us and connecting it back to the tapestry of the Old Testament that provides the backdrop for his arrival and ministry.
In this teaching, we look at John 10:10, where Jesus says, "I have come so that they may have life, and may have it abundantly”. Then we are tracing the theme of abundant life back to Genesis, where we find God's first advent at the beginning and the creation of his image bearing creatures. Then we follow that theme forward through the fall of the humans, the curse of sin, onto the promise of blessing made to Abraham. Finally, we see how Jesus was born as the better Adam and the true offspring of Abraham.
