John 18:1-8; Exodus 3:14; Isaiah 53:6
A squadron arrested Jesus, but their force did not take his life. He willingly laid it down for us, a unique act that fulfilled the prophecy in Isaiah. Jesus, the perfect lamb, was a sacrifice for all. Unlike a natural lamb, Jesus was the only one clean enough to take all our sins upon him. He, the perfect sacrifice sent by God, came to reunite us with the Father by laying down his life in exchange for our sins. He was sinless and spotless and took our place on the cross. No amount of human sacrifice was sufficient enough to take our sins upon it.
Today, I ask that you recognize Jesus as Lord and acknowledge His sacrifice for you on the cross and authority to lay down his life for you. We need him to redeem us, for He was a spotless and sinless lamb. He only did good things while He was here on earth and continues to do so through us; his goodness is a continuous source of hope and reassurance. When we receive him, we have him, the Father, and His Spirit of Truth—the Holy Spirit—so we can live with them forever.
