Big Idea: He is King.
In our western, independent, democratic society it can be difficult to understand the role of a king. But for the majority of history and across most societies the primary form of government has been a monarchy. Though we have rejected the form of a king we have not lost the need of one. A king is responsible to govern and judge, to protect and defend, and to lead and represent. We need a king, but no human being is able to be the king we need. As we ask the question, "What child is this?" Luke responds boldly, "He is King! He is the rightful king, the promised king, and the eternal king. He is more than the king you need, he is the king you will love. Swear your fealty to him."
