Big Idea: He is Lord.

The Christian faith is is built upon truths that must be understood, accepted, and embraced.  There are some doctrines that are open to debate and differences of opinion, but there are others that are non-negotiable.  One such theological truth that is non-negotiable is the Incarnation.  This is the theological term for the biblical truth that Jesus Christ is the second Person of the Trinity, one with God from all eternity past who took on flesh and existed as both fully man and fully God.  As we ask the question, "What child is this?" John is not content to start with the beginning of Christ's earthly ministry or even with his life as a human.  John says, "He is Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the eternal Word of the Father dwelling as one of us that he might die for us!"
