Donald Trump has announced a baseline 10 per cent on all imports to the US as well as “reciprocal tariffs” on all countries of “approximately half” of what they charge America.
Anthony Albanese has had his response saying the tariffs have "no basis or logic" and that they are "not the act of a friend."
Shadow Trade Minister Kevin Hogan told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "History teaches us this, when countries start to have trade wars, lift tariffs, it slows down global growth and slows down everyone's economy."
"One in four jobs in Australia are directly related to an export industry and then there'd be lots of other indirect jobs related to that."
"We want the global growth to grow, it's good for our exporters and I think this is going to have a detrimental effect on us," Mr. Hogan said.
