57 Then those who had seized Jesus led him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had gathered. 58And Peter was following him at a distance, as far as the courtyard of the high priest, and going inside he sat with the guards to see the end. 59Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death, 60but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. At last two came forward 61and said, "This man said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to rebuild it in three days.' " 62And the high priest stood up and said, "Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?" 63But Jesus remained silent. Matthew 26:57–63a (ESV)
21For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 25For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. 1 Peter 2:21–25 (ESV)
Jesus gives us an example of how and when to hold our peace:
1. Hold your peace when you're talking to someone with a CLOSED HEART.
3Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, 4and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him. Matthew 26:3–4 (ESV)
6"Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.

9Don't try to talk sense to a fool; he can't appreciate it.

2. Hold your peace when you know GOD'S WILL and others don't (or won't) UNDERSTAND.
11Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus said, "You have said so." 12But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer. 13Then Pilate said to him, "Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?" 14But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed. Matthew 27:11–14 (ESV)
Entrusted = to SURRENDER, to GIVE oneself over to another.
Like Jesus, continually ENTRUSTING your LIFE to the Father is what enables you to hold your peace.
