This is an unofficial "Part I" of a 3 part conversation based on an encounter I had with the Lord. Jesus commands us to forgive those who hurt us, to release them of their offense. That feels like we're just letting them off the hook though, and with no apology, remorse or repentance from the other party, it can feel impossible to not be angry or bitter. I've been wrestling with resentment and unforgiveness in the year after leaving a church I once called home, in the wake of grievous aftermath of other's painful decisions.
In a powerful, much needed time of weeping that came from reading the book, "Searching for Sunday," I was invited by the Spirit to explore how forgiveness is truly and only possible in partnership with our Savior. Our great High Priest is able to understand everything we experience in humanity because He actually lived it. He truly understands, and in light of this revelation- if He forgave those who betrayed, offended and grieved Him, then so can I. Jesus lead by example, not instructing us to do anything He, in His human body didn't model first.
SCRIPTURES: Philippians 2:7; Isaiah 53:3 ; Hebrews 4:15
