In this episode, we share the story of Tonya
Harvey, a vibrant and courageous transgender woman from Buffalo, NY, whose life
was tragically cut short. On a cold day in February 2018, Tonya was on her way
to the grocery store when she was senselessly shot and killed. Her death
highlights the ongoing violence faced by the transgender community,
particularly Black trans women.
We explore Tonya’s life, her struggles, and her
dreams, while shedding light on the systemic issues that make transgender
individuals disproportionately vulnerable to violence. This episode also serves
as a call to action, reminding us of the importance of advocating for justice,
equality, and safety for all.
Join us as we honor Tonya’s memory and discuss
the changes needed to ensure that tragedies like hers never happen again.
