I attended a funeral today and it was mine. 

In that casket lay, not a woman, but all the brokenness I was carrying. All the shame that had held me captive, all the guilt that was holding my soul hostage. In that casket lay all the rage, the fear, the anxiety, all the wants that people did not have the capacity to give me. All the rejection, abandonment, and old stories.

In that casket lay the knowledge that I had of myself as a woman about myself, but unfortunately attached to that knowledge were false agreements with false information. False beliefs in false solutions, all of the internal struggles, the false narratives and inner stories of comparison and harsh critique that only serve to sever my soul.

Today I laid to rest all that no longer serves me. I realized that for me to live, I had to die to all of this. I had to die to the compulsory illusions that did not magnify truths but lies about me. So I grieve the loss through the shedding cry, not for me, but with me, because I had to die so that I could live and learn my full truth and embrace all that is me. I might be misshapen in some places and I'm still healing from the wounds of all that I carried. And some of those ghosts and stories from my life may try to haunt me every now and again. I'll let them come, but I'll also remind them I shall live and not die in a lie, but live in my truth as I tell myself my truth, my way for my freedom, for my healing, and for my joy today.

I am the joy I want to be. I am me.

Our new hashtag for this week is boundaries.

That's a word that often creates tension, angst, stress, and frustration because we have a lot of misconceptions about boundaries and what they are. Think about what your boundaries look like. Think about what they feel like. Take some time and sit with them.  Boundaries are self-care. Boundaries are loving yourself and loving others at the same time. Boundaries are something that you deserve, you desire, and that lead you to your destiny. Set you #boundaries, firmly.

Today we are gonna talk about THE MIDDLE.

You know, that place that's uncomfortable, but yet we get comfortable in it. The middle is that place that I often think about is, you know, the place where you can look up and you can see what's ahead of you, but then you can look down and you can see where you come from.

It's also that place that I'd like to call the crossroad. It's our struggle with ourselves. It's that place where we have to make some harsher decisions. We have to reflect on some things.

Your scars are your stories, your "beauty marks"

Today we are talking about our scars. The experiences and traumas that have left their mark on our lives.  Some of us have physical scars while others have mental scars. Some of us have scars from deep breakups, abuse, disappointment, rejection, brokenness, shame, and guilt. And a lot of these "scars" are still open wounds.

Your scars and open wounds prevent you from growing but we must all grow. So I want you to start looking at your scars of yesterday because we can be healing at the same time that we're building. Building up our confidence, hope, faith, trust, and assurances within ourselves.

I've listened to so many people talk about the degrees of healing. I've listened to the word trauma being thrown around so loosely. But what does this look like for me? What does this look like for you? How do we confront and sit with ourselves in our own trauma? We can no longer hide or walk away.

What happens when we just say "I am who I am today and that is all that #IAM".

 Hey, it's your girl, Marcia here. I have not spoken with you for quite some time. Real Sisters REELTalk had taken a sabbatical because there was some things that we needed to do, and one of those things was I needed to see me and I needed to heal. I'm coming to you today because I just want you to know that Real Sisters REEL Talk will have an overhaul. We're changing the name to Healing and Hashtags. It is time to heal and to see and support ourselves, our whole selves for who we are. So here's to #NewBeginnings.

The first thing I heard this morning was when the shoe doesn’t fit, which immediately made me think about Cinderella.

We all know the story about how the prince sought out the woman who could fit that shoe. Cinderella’s shoe was probably the same size as someone else’s but did not fit her the same way. That is because when God puts you on a pathway, no one else can fit that shoe but you. No matter how much they try, no one can fit it like you. 

It’s the same as when people come and try to fit in our space and we fight it but we don't have to because that shoe was meant for us, and us alone.

Always remember: your shoe fits, your pathway fits, your calling fits.

I am very grateful to be sharing this episode with you. Today we will be talking with Shalanda Wright about how women of color are commonly treated like they can’t make decisions over their own bodies. 

Shalanda was born and raised in Alabama and was constantly mistreated by the health care system by doctors who either didn’t have the knowledge, were ignorant, or took advantage of women of color. She went through three miscarriages which led to her mental state being seriously affected. 

In this episode we will be discussing how we do deserve healthcare, pregnant or not, and how racism affects the health care system in our country.
