This episode explores suggestibility — not as a flaw or weakness, but as a fundamental aspect of being human. Drawing on ideas from hypnosis and everyday psychology, I reflect on how much of our thinking, identity, and behaviour is shaped by influences we rarely question. From authority figures and cultural norms to early experiences and internalised stories, we are constantly absorbing suggestions about who we are and how the world works.
Rather than focusing on persuasion by others alone, the episode looks at how suggestion also operates internally — through the narratives we repeat to ourselves, the meanings we’ve inherited from the past, and the assumptions we rarely revisit. Many of these ideas once served a purpose, but over time they can quietly limit how we live.
The aim here isn’t to reject influence altogether — that’s neither possible nor desirable — but to become more discerning. When you begin to notice what you’re responding to and why, you regain choice about which ideas you allow to shape your sense of self.
This episode invites you to question where your beliefs come from, how they align with your values, and whether they still deserve the authority you give them. In doing so, suggestibility becomes less something that happens to you, and more something you can work with consciously.
