As the new year begins, many of us are motivated to pursue improved health and well-being when we consider the past year and consider the prospects of the one to come by our desire for good change. Dieting as a New Year's resolutions has evolved into a metaphor for a self-improvement movement, with individuals setting out to change their behaviours, fuel their bodies, and adopt a lifestyle that promotes health and longevity. As part of this group effort to become healthier, people aim to rethink how they relate to food and lay the groundwork for a year full of healthful decisions and better general health. However, some of these dieting methods we employ can be dangerous and detrimental to our well-being.
