World Pneumonia Day took place on 12 November and The World Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases Congress convened from 14 - 17 November 2023 in Durban. Both of these annual events are reminders that infectious diseases are still a major health threat, and thus vaccines play an important role in eradicating and preventing many diseases, reducing the burden of illness and mortality. The conference deliberated on research advances and developments within the field whilst exploring solutions for a post-pandemic world and how children in all markets can access affordable interventions, which will lead to healthier and more productive lives.
Guest: Professor Prakash Mohan Jeena: Head of Paediatrics and Child Health, University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
