Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a complex neurological condition that affects more than 2.8 million of people worldwide. According to the global burden of disease study, sub-Saharan Africa has around 49 000 cases of MS with 2 800 new cases emerging annually. Multiple Sclerosis has a higher incidence rate in women than men. This week, the health fraternity commemorated World Multiple Sclerosis Day and it is more important than ever to raise awareness of the need for early diagnosis and treatment.
