Today we turn our attention to bone marrow transplants – we often have conversations about organs donations and blood donations, but we seldom look at the bone marrow. Do we know all there is to know about it and do we understand what a person who needs a transplant needs?
A few weeks ago, South Africa reached a milestone when the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) received the nod from its Clinical Governance Committee and board members, as well as the National Health Department to allow 16 and 17-year-old teens to become bone marrow stem cell donors.
