Parenting Today’s Teens

Healthy Relationships

Listen Later

Every mother or father wants their child to do well in life. And teens benefit from a healthy push once in awhile. But I’d caution you against pushing for perfection!
The focus with your teen should not be about success or failure in their activities. Instead, it’s about continuing to love your child through his difficulties.
Well, what does that really look like? First, make sure your child knows that he’s valued, no matter what he does. Second, make a habit of starting conversations with your child that have nothing to do with their performance. Ask questions about how she feels… or what he’s facing.
You’ll broaden the base of your conversations… and reinforce that you love your teen …no matter what!
