The Book of Wisdom
Highlight - Proverbs 9:7-12 New Life Translation
7 Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt.
8 So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you.
9 Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more.
10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.
11 Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life.
12 If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.
Explain – The wisdom found in Proverbs chapter 9 instructs not to waste time trying to correct a mocker because they will only hate you. Correct the wise and they will prosper. The fear, or respect, of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Lord results in good judgement which will add years to your life and you will benefit from Wisdom. The people that scorn wisdom will suffer.
Apply – We must seek the Lord with all our heart. Uplift each other to gain wisdom and reap the rewards of faithfully and obediently following the Holy Spirit to obtain His wisdom, knowledge, understanding and instruction that will benefit ourselves and others.
Respond – Lord I am diligently seeking You, Your wisdom, knowledge, understanding and instruction. Help me to be all that I can be in You.
